Prior to forming Big Red Magnet, Peter was Global Vice President of Marketing at video game publisher THQ. He managed a $400 million business unit encompassing best-selling franchises from the WWE, UFC, Games Workshop as well as key internally developed brands that spanned all major gaming platforms.
A senior management team member in several leading online organizations, Peter honed his skills in customer acquisition, e-commerce and digital distribution. As Vice President Marketing & Sales for Trion World Network, a Silicon Valley entertainment publisher/developer, and Webzen, the creator of Mu Online, a game with over 48 million subscribers worldwide, Peter helped create and implement publishing and distribution functions.
Peter gained invaluable packaged goods experience at Hasbro, a worldwide leader in leisure time products. At Hasbro Interactive, he launched some of the greatest interactive brands including Monopoly, Risk and Dungeons & Dragons. Hasbro Interactive was spun-off to Infogrames, which rebranded the company Atari. As Marketing Director, Peter and his team managed the Sid Meier and Firaxis created Civilization and Pirates! franchises.
Peter’s passion for games and interactive entertainment became his profession when he began working at Leo Burnett, Nintendo’s advertising agency of record. This was followed by his joining Segal Communications, the agency of record for the Sony Computer Entertainment of Canada where he helped launch the Sony PlayStation.
Peter is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University’s School of Business & Economics.
Lisa Matiss is an entertainment and video game licensing and merchandising expert.
In addition to co-founding Big Red Magnet, Lisa is responsible for the business affairs and licensing at CMI Entertainment, the brand strategy and consumer product group behind Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer.
Prior to Big Red Magnet, Lisa was head of licensing for THQ. She negotiated two of the company's largest licensing agreements, with Marvel and DreamWorks SKG, with estimated forward looking revenue of over $100 Million. In this role, Lisa vetted licensing opportunities across all media and closed deals with leading companies such as Microsoft, New Line, and Mattel.
Lisa’s ability to work seamlessly with executive, development and creative stakeholders allows her to get deals done where others can not.
In her role as Director of Licensing & Contracts at Atari and Hasbro Interactive, Lisa negotiated licensing contracts with Sony, Nickelodeon, Namco, Konami, Funimation, and all major US national sports organizations (NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, MLS). She also managed the exclusive Hasbro license, which generated annual revenue in excess of $100 Million and encompassed more than one thousand properties.
Lisa honed her negotiation and contract skills working at the boutique law firm of Shenk Annes Brookman & Tepper in Chicago, Illinois. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine Law School.
